Deer

119

119- Lots of deer. Good glassing country. November hunt so deer are / have migrated to this area. Lots of bucks but not a lot of trophy class bucks. Stayed in Themopolis and is a short drive to the unit. Recommend finding access properties through the fish and game. Make sure to drop into the Holiday Inn in Thermopolis and check out all of the mounts. Any hunter will like this place. This is a fun hunt. --Travis

Region G

Region G - Great all around early season high country muley hunt. Scout early and find the animal you want. Sit on him until the opener and be done. Expect alot of company on the opener, but if know he's there get it over with. Must be in good physical shape. Spend most of the day behind the glasses looking for the one. Holds a fair number of B&C bucks but dont expect to see them around every corner. If you hunt the later part of the season focus on the secondary ridges(8000-9000 feet) the big bucks will have moved off the top making them harder to locate. Take your best optics and plan on sitting for extended periods of time. Have fun as you will see plenty of deer!! - Aaron

Elk

31
This is an extremely fun hunt. This is a high desert hunt with junipers in the lower country and pines in the high country (little mtn.) There is a lot of game, deer, elk and antelope that you will enjoy seeing on just about every ridge. There are a lot of roads just about everywhere. It's actually hard to get away from roads but you can if you try. Draw odds in this unit are terrible to dont expect to draw this unit anytime soon unless your feeling lucky. There are few large bulls meaning 330+ and lots of bulls in the 280 inch range.

Roads get real slimy when they get wet, so keep that in mind if you have a trailer up on top. Best fuel, food and lodging in Rock Springs about 40 miles away. Dutch John in UT has this in much, much smaller quatities and about 4 times the price is you dont want to make the drive to Rock Springs. -Travis travis.brown.23@hotmail.com

Moose

26

26 - Fun hunt. Make sure to cover lots of ground and a quad it the best way once you get to the area of the unit you want to cover for the day. The unit is large and dont be afraid to cover all of it. The moose can be found in the sage brush or the obvious swampy areas, low and high, so look everywhere. The country is beautiful and has everything from high peaks, to sagebrush flats. Quakeys and dark thick timber. Areas with lots of roads and areas to get away from just about anyone.

There is an RV park in Kemmerer, lots of camping areas around Cokeville by the ski resort with a short drive to the Flying J truck stop in Cokeville where you can take a shower, eat at their restauraunt, wash clothes and even get on the internet if you have your computer. The north end of the unit has Allred campground and several non-paying camp sites as well.

I saw on average about 8 moose / day. I would say the quality is down. Very few hunters (deer, elk, moose) saw big bulls. You will not see 40+ inch moose on a daily basis but they are there. Calling works so prepare before you go. Might think about bringing some hip or chest waders too. I could have used some. Travis Brown - travis.brown.23@hotmail.com

26 - We saw a ton of moose and the terrain is mostly forgiving, with lots of area to cover, bring your quad. There was another hunt going on, I believe it was deer, but overall pressure was low.Good camping areas, just be careful driving at night, lots of deer in the valley. Nathan clarke_1111@hotmail.com
