General Info

I hunted the NW N. Dakota Badlands area during the 2007 late rut. I have nothing but good things to say. The deer numbers are great. You will see lots of deer, Whitetail as well as Mule deer. I hunted for mule deer and harvested the largest buck that I saw in three days of hunting. I don't believe that the mule deer bucks get very big in this area. I saw several bucks in the 140 class range but have seen a few bucks on the wall that have come from this area in the 170+ catagory. In general I think that the genetics are just ok, but I know there are a few big bucks around there. If I had it to do all over again I would have waited until the last few days of the season and tried harder to find a larger buck. Between myself and two buddies we harvested 3 mule deer bucks in three days. Not to bad considering it was our first time there. The whitetail can get huge in this area. I personaly saw a couple of great bucks. One of which was a pig. Hunt slow and get off the roads and it will payoff. As usual.
